Kurunjang Primary School pupils take a step back in time

Tayla, Oriana, Ben and Caleb found themselves in the 1860s last Thursday.

The Kurunjang Primary School grade 1 and 2 pupils re-created a school experience from 150 years ago.

And, surprisingly, the six and seven-year-olds enjoyed the “cool novelty” more than an average 2015 school day.

“We condensed the classes into two rooms, put all the tables in rows and had them dressed in old clothes,” grade 1 teacher Glen Ransome said.

“What’s scary is they enjoyed it more than school.” Ms Ransome said pupils were given a first-hand experience of how different life was back in the 1800s.
