A review of Moorabool’s leisure services could mean big changes to outdoor pool times, creche services and group fitness classes from next month.
Belgravia Leisure manages the council- owned Bacchus Marsh Leisure Centre, Bacchus Marsh and Ballan outdoor pools and Darley Indoor Sports Stadium and will make changes to some services from July 1.
Community services general manager Danny Colgan said the aim was to improve the viability of all centres.
Bacchus Marsh and Ballan pools will be closed if the temperature is below 23 degrees during summer, and opening hours will be cut if the temperature is between 23 and 25 in December and February during school terms.
Opening hours will stay the same in January on days warmer than 23, Mr Colgan said.
“We believe, based on previous pool season attendances, these changes can be made without affecting the service level provided to the community,” Mr Colgan said.
Creche services at leisure centres will operate on a month-to-month basis, subsidised by the council, until more efficient creche options can be offered.
The existing group fitness component of the service is also under review over the next six months and Bacchus Marsh Leisure Centre fitness programs will be held at Darley Indoor Sports Stadium.
“Indoor sports courts at the Bacchus Marsh Leisure Centre are nearing capacity,” Mr Colgan said.
