‘Vertical’ strawberries present easy pickings

Long gone are the days of crouching low to pick a ripe strawberry.

Strawberry Forest at Bacchus Marsh recently started growing the summertime favourite vertically, so people can pick them without straining.

“The ability to pick from different heights – whether you have a toddler, a bad back and can’t bend, or are 10 feet tall – means there is the perfect strawberry height just for you,” Strawberry Forest’s Tanya said.

The fruits are grown in PVC pipes, and the aisles are wide enough for wheelchair and pram access.

The farm is at 391 The Avenue of Honour, Bacchus Marsh, with the pick-your-own season ending in May. For more information, call 5367 0606.
