Spots are open for primary school students to partake in the City of Melton’s winter vacation care program these upcoming school holidays.

Running from Monday July 1 to Friday July 12, the program features a diverse range of activities from dress-ups and arts and crafts to sport excursions.

Among the highlights is a special NAIDOC Week activity, which will celebrate and educate the children on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and traditions.

Applications for the program close at 5pm on Friday June 21.

Mayor Kathy Majdlik said the program would offer something for everyone, with council hoping to emphasise a sense of ‘wonder’ and ‘curiosity’.

“School holidays are a time for having fun and making memories,” she said.

“Our vacation care program promotes creativity, fun and lifelong learning. Children can participate daily or choose the activities they find most engaging.”

Each day is priced at $89.50 and additional costs for excursions and incursions may apply.

Families may be eligible for subsidised fees but this must be confirmed with a valid Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

All staff who help with vacation care staff are qualified educators, with many employed in local schools.
