POLICE are unable to say how many extra officers will be allocated to Moorabool after it was announced the western region would receive 27 additional members.
Western region’s Superintendent Andrew Allen said the extra officers would complement 50 police added in the past two years.
“These additional numbers will provide for more supervisors as well as other ranks.
“These police will primarily be allocated across the Ballarat police service area, with others assigned to the Moorabool area as determined by service demands.”
Superintendent Allen said regional command continually assessed the allocation of police across both service areas.
Deputy Commissioner Lucinda Nolan said extra officers had been allocated to communities where the need was greatest.
