North Western Titans will stand united this weekend as they mark Pride Round on Sunday.

The club will mark the occasion on Sunday as the club takes on Footscray in a vital battle in the Baseball Victoria Summer League men’s division 3 competition.

Titans president Danny Haymes said everyone at the club had got behind the idea.

Pride Round is a round designed to create awareness around sexual and gender diversity and the importance of providing an inclusive, safe and supportive environment for everyone, no matter their sexual or gender identity.

“We are painting the bases and a couple of the guys are planning to wear zinc,” he said.

“Everyone is getting right behind it and starting to promote it. Baseball Victoria is backing us and giving us a flag to display.”

Haymes said at the club they had made a big focus on that everyone is an equal and they are one big family.

“It doesn’t whether you are male or female, gay, lebsisan or straight, or your what race you are, everyone is part of our family and we mingle really well.

“We want to set the standard for the sport.”

Haymes said they would look to have a pride round every year and would look at maybe getting special uniforms in future years.

The round coincides with a big day for the Titans with their first side facing off in a battle between second and third.

Games start from 11.30am.
