Melton and Moorabool children will be among the tens of thousands of children across Victoria who will receive a starting gift when they start three-year-old kinder this year.

The state government will provide the children with fun and educational toys, books and resources for the whole family.

The kits are designed to encourage continued learning at home and to help parents support their children to thrive in their first year of kinder with activities to develop language and social skills, and express emotions and creativity.

The illustrated Kinder Kit carry case is made from recycled materials, opens out to become a play surface with a whiteboard and markers and can be repurposed for storing kinder or childhood memories.

The kits include crayons, play dough, animal magnets, an early start development activity pad, alfalfa seeds, flip cards and cubes and two books.

From 2022, every three-year-old across Victoria will have access to at least five hours of kindergarten.

Early Childhood Minister Ingrid Stitt said this will help give Victorian children the best start in their education.

“We know that two years of early education is better than one – our Kinder Kits are a wonderful celebration of this landmark reform rolling out statewide, helping families and children connect at home with their learning.”
