Residents of Ingenia Gardens Melton supported the fight against animal cruelty at their annual RSPCA Cupcake Day fundraiser.

The residents enjoyed a pet parade, showcasing the community’s furry resident companions, as well as a morning tea with plenty of cupcakes.

The community surpassed their fundraising goal of $150, with $5 plates of treats to raise the funds.

Community Manager Nada Mecanovic said the residents looked forward to celebrating their pets.

“The RSPCA Cupcake Day is a really important cause for many of our residents,” Ms Mecanovic said.

“The residents love to fundraise for the RSPCA, I think as people age and even start to live alone, the companionship of pets becomes incredibly important to them.

“This is a pet friendly community, so we have many furry friends living here, four dogs, four cats and 2 budgies to be precise,” she said.

“We are so excited to be hosting an RSPCA Cupcake Day event, the last two years were spent in lockdown so this will be the revival of our annual RSPCA Cupcake Day celebrations.”
