Police appeal after fatal motorbike crash

Melton Highway Patrol officers are appealing for information following a fatal motorcycle crash in Melton on Monday, March 30.

It is believed a female rider was travelling north on Coburns Road, over the Western Freeway overpass, when she left the road and crashed about 3.15pm.

The rider, a 44-year-old woman from Melton, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died on Saturday, April 4.

Police are appealing for the rider of a white motorbike they believe was nearby to come forward.

The rider of the white motorbike was last seen travelling on Coburns Road before entering the Western Freeway, city-bound.

Police are also seeking occupants of a white SUV, possibly a Nissan Pathfinder, to come forward.

Police said the occupants of the SUV stopped at the scene of the crash and left prior to police arriving.

The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined.
