Bacchus Marsh Hospital has received a significant boost, with a $1 million investment into their radiology department unveiled recently.

While patients to the hospital have been able to have x-rays or ultrasounds previously, if a CT scanner was needed it meant a trip out of town, so the addition by Lake Imaging of a new scanner at the hospital is a major boost.

Lake Imaging also purchased a brand-new digital x-ray machine and dental imaging equipment.

Lake Imaging general manager Dan Hilbert said that alongside the new Ultrasound equipment installed a year ago, the community of Bacchus Marsh now has access to latest in medical imaging technology for all examinations on their doorstep.

“The people of Bacchus Marsh now have access to state-of-the-art equipment, providing more advanced image quality than before, faster scanning times and better access to appointments,” Mr Hibert said.

A CT Scan helps doctors to diagnose complex bone fractures and tumours, in all parts of the body by using x-rays and a computer to create pictures of human organs, bones and other tissues throughout the body in greater detail than a general x-ray.

Djerriwarrh Health Services chief executive Belinda Scott said the new scanner was essential for the growing town, with the population forecast to double in the next 20 years.

“The addition of the CT Scanner at Lake Imaging in Bacchus Marsh allows our patients to have 24 hr access to this diagnostic service without the need to travel out of Bacchus Marsh,” Ms Scott said.

“Our health service through our partnership with Lake Imaging has enhanced the high quality patient care available for our community.”
