Melton council will hold a meeting tonight, its second to last before the end of the year and the first official meeting led by the newly elected mayor Goran Kesic.

Council will be covering prevalent topics this evening, including an update on the ongoing issue of the planned transmission network running through the area.

An update will be heard from the Environmental Effects Statement for the Western Victoria Transmission Network Project, after which council will discuss how to advocate for the best outcome for the community.

A motion will be heard to develop a community awareness campaign in response to the Victorian Government’s Sex Work Decriminalisation Bill.

The state government announced in October it will be seeking to decriminalise sex work in Victoria with the purpose of ensuring all workers have equal rights and access to protection.

Council will also give the first quarter update on the progress of the council and wellbeing plan – annual action plan 2021-22.

There will also be representation nominations for delegated and advisory committees of council and other bodies for the approval of council for the 2021-22 year.

The meeting will be held via video conference and commence at 7pm.
